次回POBは16日（水）4:30-ということにしてしまいましたが、一部のみで決めてしまったので、一応全体の意見も聞いてみます。とりあえず、火曜or水曜にしたいと思うのですが、皆さんの今期の都合を教えてもらえますか?
とりあえず今のところダメな時間帯は：

水曜 14:30-16:30
となってます。

次回以降の勉強会ですが，新学期がそろそろ始まるため，スケジュールを再調整したいと思います．とりあえず４月７日以降で，ダメな日・曜日・時間を，コメントで書き込んでいってください（とりあえず今参加している人は，全員書き込みをよろしく．これから参加される方もできればお願いします）．
あと，今回Skypeで東大とつないでやってみましたが，意外にスムーズにいくということが判明しました．ので，次回以降はSkype上でも同時中継していこうと考えています．参加ご希望の方は，アカウントをお教えしますので，メールorコメントなどで当方までご連絡ください．
ちなみに次回は：

• POB：Phenotypic plasticity(Pigliucci) Chap.1つづき
• EVO：Evolution(Ridley), Chap. 10.7から

の予定です．

前回でめでたくAmundsonを読了したので，次のマテリアルを考えなければなりません．今のところ候補に挙がっているのは，次のPigliucciの単著です．結構面白そうなんで，私としては賛成なんですが・・・何か他に案があればお教えください．

Title:
A better inference to the best functional explanation

Why does the Stegosaurus have heavy plates on its back? What was its
function? Inference of function from fossil records is a key component
of paleobiology (study of extinct organisms). The difficulty of this
task comes from the fact that we have no way to "see" the actual use
of the trait which remains only as a fossil record. To tackle with
this problem, paleobiologists adopt a form of "inference to the best
explanation" to decide which functional hypothesis is to be accepted.
Function determines form. So the functional hypothesis which predicts
the form closest to the actual structure must be the right story.
However, this method (called "Paradigm Method") has been strongly
criticized, for lacking any formal criterion to measure "similitude"
between the prediction and the actual structure, the result of the
test tends to be highly qualitative or subjective.
In this talk I want to propose a new method of testing functional
hypothesis, based on the Bayesian probability calculus. Evaluating
plausibility of each hypothesis by looking at multiple traits rather
than one, this treatment will reduce the difficulty of measuring the
exactness of prediction and give a clearer result. Moreover, based on
the Baysian account of unification (cf. Myrvold 2003), this method
provides a way to evaluate the correlation among several functions as
well as the degree of developmental constraints, all of which were
entirely missing in the previous paradigm approach.
